Maestro Haitink will conduct once again the Orchestra Mozart right before his sabbatical year. “For the third year running Maestro Haitink will conduct us in Bologna and Lugano; - says Mattia Petrilli, Flute and OM Board Member - we will face together a significant and prestigious programme. The relationship with Maestro Haitink gets stronger and stronger every time, musically speaking we feel a great connection and we are united by a strong, loving feeling. His wish to make music with us once again honours us and it is with great joy and trepidation that we look forward to the rehearsals”.

THE COLLABORATION WITH GASTÓN FOURNIER-FACIO

The Accademia is happy to announce the beginning of the collaboration with Maestro Gastón Fournier-Facio as Artistic Consultant of the Orchestra Mozart (Fournier-Facio has been Artistic Coordinator at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Artistic Director of the Teatro Regio in Turin from 2014 to 2018). Fournier-Facio began his work as Artistic Consultant for the Orchestra Mozart on January 2019.

I’m delighted to work as Artistic Consultant for the Orchestra Mozart, directed for ten years by Claudio Abbado. I had the chance to collaborate with him many times in many different occasions (at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and at the Scala) and I remember with great joy the first concert of the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna, at the Teatro Manzoni, in 2004. I had the pleasure to work with Claudio and the OM on the occasion of his “return” to La Scala in Milan, when he conducted an unforgettable Mahler’s Sixth Symphony.

During my long collaboration with Claudio Abbado - concludes Fournier-Facio - I got to know his ideals of artistic excellence and his ethical principles on making music together. Keeping these principles in mind I will work with great energy for the future of Claudio’s last “creation”, the Orchestra Mozart. My first task will be to find a new Musical Conductor, as excellent as Claudio Abbado’s memory deserves and who will bring the orchestra to new concerts, international tournées and recordings.
