The 2025 concerts of the Orchestra Mozart with Daniele Gatti

Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna is pleased to present the 2025 program of the Orchestra Mozart and its Soloist concert season, under the direction of Daniele Gatti.

After devoting 2024 to the celebration of Orchestra Mozart’s 20th anniversary, namely a year filled with enthusiastic audience response, strong interest from new viewers (especially very young ones), and many sold-out events, the concert season is finally ready to start, featuring two highly ambitious programs conceived for and dedicated to whoever supported the Orchestra in these first two decades and celebrated this important milestone with it.

The first half of 2025 will be centered on Mozart, that is to say, a composer Accademia Filarmonica holds particularly dear, having dedicated the “Orchestra Mozart” project to him in light of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth and being proud to have him as one of its “associates”. The Orchestra will open the new symphonic season, kicking off the next two decades of music, with the very last compositions of the great Salzburg composer by throwing a concert in January, shortly after the holidays. This will be a great opportunity for regulars to treat their loved ones to a ticket, enjoy music together and get new people involved so that they can become passionate about symphonic music and participate in the projects Orchestra Mozart has planned for the future. In the spirit of sharing, as a way of showing appreciation to the public and wishing happy holidays on behalf of Accademia Filarmonica and Orchestra Mozart, tickets for the 2025 season will be sold at special prices.

The second event will close the year by bringing to fruition the project planned for 2020, which was later canceled due to the emergency related to the spread of Covid-19 and which will be finally brought to the stage in December. The concert will draw a comparison between masters of Classicism and great authors of twentieth-century Neoclassicism who were able to sucessfully combine modernity and tradition, creating a parallel between “classical” and “neoclassical.”

The season will culminate with a chamber music concert dedicated to Brahms by the Orchestra Mozart Soloists. This is the first part of “Aimez-vous Brahms?”, a two-year project that will bring the composer’s music for quintet and sextet to the stage.

The 2025 season will be launched with two concerts, one in Fermo, Italy, at the Teatro dell’Aquila for Il Circolo di Ave, on January 21, and the other one in Bologna, Italy, at Teatro Auditorium Manzoni on January 22. The program will be focused on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s last three symphonies: Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, K 543, Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K 550 and Symphony No. 41 in C major, K 551, the so-called Jupiter Symphony.

The Orchestra Mozart will be back in Bologna on December 4 for one final concert at Teatro Auditorium Manzoni. The program features pieces of work by three great composers: Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony in C,  Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 92 in G major, the so-called Oxford Symphony, and Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, Op. 25, also known as the Classical Symphony.

Chamber music enthusiasts will be delighted to hear that the Orchestra Mozart Soloists will be playing on May 29 at the Sala Bossi of the G. B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna. The concert will feature Francesco Senese and Manuel Kastl (violin), Simone Briatore and Francesca Piccioni (viola), and Gabriele Geminiani and Walter Vestidello (cello), bringing to the stage a program dedicated to Brahms by performing his works String Quintet No. 1 in F Major, Op. 88 and String Sextet No. 1 in B-Flat Major, Op. 18 as part of the “Aimez-vous Brahms?” project.

The activities and concerts of Accademia Filarmonica are carried out with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and in agreement with the Municipality of Bologna | Culture and Creativity Department, within the framework of Bologna UNESCO City of Music.
