Due to a sudden illness, Maestro Daniele Gatti is unable to conduct the closing concert of the complete Beethoven cycle, scheduled to take place at the Manzoni Auditorium in Bologna on September 20. The Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna announces that Sir John Eliot Gardiner will conduct the concert on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 8:30 PM at the Teatro Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna. He will lead the Orchestra Mozart, the Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna with its conductor Gea Garatti Ansini, and soloists Lenneke Ruiten (soprano), Eleonora Filipponi (mezzo-soprano), Bernard Richter (tenor), and Markus Werba (baritone). The program for the evening remains unchanged: Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 8 and No. 9, key works of the classical repertoire, will be performed.
The concert on Friday, September 20, will be the second in a tour that will see the Orchestra performing at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara (September 19) for "Ferrara Musica" and at the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory (September 21) for the "Società del Quartetto." The concert promises to be an extraordinary opportunity to experience the emotions of Beethoven's last two symphonies under the inspired direction of Maestro Gardiner, one of the most acclaimed conductors on the international music scene, who has previously conducted the Orchestra Mozart.
The concert is made possible with the support of Alfasigma S.p.A., the main partner of Orchestra Mozart.
Ticket Information: The concert is currently sold out; however, as is often the case, some seats may become available closer to September 20. These tickets will be made available on the website Vivaticket.it, which we recommend monitoring, and at the Manzoni Auditorium box office starting at 7 PM on the evening of the concert.
Tickets range from €12 to €75. Special discounts are available for those under 35.
In conclusion to the complete Beethoven symphony cycle, we extend sincere thanks to Ferrara Musica for providing Orchestra Mozart with an artistic residency from 2022 to 2024, a crucial contribution to the realization of this project. In addition to Ferrara and Bologna, the tour also visited Milan, thanks to the participation of the Società del Quartetto di Milano in the entire artistic project.
The Accademia Filarmonica also expresses its gratitude to the Teatro Comunale di Bologna for its valuable artistic and institutional collaboration and for the support provided throughout the production and realization of the tour.
The activities and concerts of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna are made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and in agreement with the Municipality of Bologna | Culture and Creativity Department, also as part of the initiatives of Bologna UNESCO City of Music.
