Please note a programme change: instead of Haydn’s Symphony No. 82 The Bear, the orchestra will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, op. 67.
Programme
Igor Stravinsky – Symphony in C
Sergei Prokofiev – Symphony No. 1 in D major, Op. 25 “Classical”
Ludwig van Beethoven – Symphony No. 5 in C minor, op. 67
The encounter between one of the most acclaimed conductors on the international scene and the Bologna ensemble offers a unique exploration of the path taken by the symphonic “form” as it traveled between Vienna, Russia, and America.
The program opens with Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony in C major, with its contrasting spirit and rich metric complexity. At the center of the triptych is Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, Op. 25 “Classical”, one of the classics of 20th-century symphonism. Closing the program is Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, with its four iconic notes that have echoed through the centuries.
The concert is made possible with the support of Alfasigma S.p.A., main partner of Orchestra Mozart.
