Cancelled the Orchestra Mozart concerts in Bologna and Lugano

The Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna announces that the Orchestra Mozart concerts, scheduled from the 16th to the 19th of April 2020 in Bologna and from the 12th to the 15th in Lugano, are cancelled due to the emergency related to the spreading of Covid-19.

It is with great sorrow that the Accademia is forced to cancel the concerts of the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna and, in agreement with LuganoMusica artistic direction, in Lugano, where the Federal Council has forbidden all public and private events with more than 100 people until the 30th of April. These concerts would have been conducted for the first time by Maestro Daniele Gatti, the orchestra’s new Music Director. As far as Bologna is concerned, although the concerts were scheduled in a period which right now is not subject to restrictions, the final organization of the events should have taken place in these weeks. However, considering the current situation and the great uncertainty concerning the future which are affecting both our country and the whole of Europe, where many of Orchestra Mozart's musicians come from, the Accademia is forced to interrupt the organization of the third edition of the festival.

"It is a painful but necessary decision at the moment - states Loris Azzaroni, President of the Accademia Filarmonica -; unfortunately, like many other colleagues who work in the world of music and entertainment, we find ourselves forced to cancel events, though the months of work and economic investment. Having the Orchestra Mozart echo in Bologna, its hometown, and doing so for the first time together with Maestro Daniele Gatti was our desire. But right now, it is clear that everyone’s health safeguard is the absolute priority.

Anyways, we will not stand still: we are working full time to try reorganize the Orchestra Mozart concerts in a later time this year, together with Maestro Gatti. We very much hope to give you encouraging updates as soon as possible".

Lastly, we inform you that, in compliance with the Prime Ministerial Decree of March 9, 2020, the Accademia Filarmonica offices will be closed until April 3rd. It will still be possible to contact the secretary office from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the following addresses: phone number 333 8007593 / email segreteria@accademiafilarmonica.it
