Taking part in the founding of an orchestra, the Orchestra Mozart, which emerged on the initiative of the Philharmonic Academy, with Claudio Abbado as artistic director, was an opportunity which we could not afford to miss, and, one might even say, a duty for an institution such as the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio (Savings Bank Foundation) of Bologna.
Making such an ambitious project possible in a very short space of time, through the significant, constant commitment of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Bologna, gave a clear and precise signal of the Foundation's intentions. The Foundation aims to accompany its widespread funding of institutions, voluntary organisations and charitable associations with extensive cultural initiatives that are destined to play a key role within the community of the city and beyond.
The great success enjoyed by Orchestra Mozart, just a few months after its establishment, has confirmed that our insights were correct, and that the path we have taken will lead to further success.
Our support for Orchestra Mozart aims to give a clear signal. It should lead the way for the establishment of very high level cultural policies, which cannot succeed without the thorough, accurate involvement of local institutions. We are sure that the city, and young people in particular, will continue to follow the artistic activities of Claudio Abbado and his young talented musicians with great passion and enthusiasm.
