Cavalieri e Amici

The "Cavalieri e Amici" (Knights and Friends) association of the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Bologna was established to support the activities of the oldest secular musical institution of the city (founded in 1666). The most significant of these initiatives is the Orchestra Mozart, with Claudio Abbado as artistic director, which is supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio (Savings Bank Foundation) of Bologna. Joining the "Cavalieri e Amici" association means taking part in an ambitious cultural project. The Philharmonic Academy, through the Orchestra Mozart, is not only responsible for top quality musical productions, but is also involved in promoting numerous social activities, for educational purposes and aimed at making music more accessible, which include the following:

- Advanced Orchestra Training Courses (with scholarships awarded by the Region of Emilia Romagna), which form the basis of the activities of the "Orchestra Mozart Academy". This offers a high level of musical production, and also promotes the use of small theatres in the provinces of the region.

- The TAMINO Project (Terapie e Attività Musicali INnovative Oggi = Innovative Music Therapy and Activities Today), which provides musical activities and music therapy in healthcare and charity structures.

- Dress Rehearsals are open to Third Sector associations, and Schools that take part in the "Journey into the History of Music" educational project.

Members can take advantage of special conditions enabling them to attend all the concerts of Orchestra Mozart which take place in Bologna.
